Attendee FAQ

  1. Where is the conference located?
    The 2021 conference will be held virtually.
  2. What is included in the cost of registration?
    Registration includes access to all SAV events, including general sessions, all workshop sessions, conversation stations, innovation showcase, and exhibit hall. Pre-conference registration is separate from conference registration.
  3. Where should I stay?
    The 2021 conference is virtual, so there is not a hotel block this year.
  4. How do I get a certificate and receive credit for the sessions I attended during the conference?
    A variety of sessions will qualify for the following: Professional Development clock hours for licensed educators through the Illinois State Board of Education; Continuing Education (CE) for Speech-Language Pathologists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and Physical Therapists license renewal through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation; Gateways to Opportunity Registry and Early Intervention Credentialing hours. Please refer to the Professional Development tab on the SAV website for more information. During the virtual conference, there will be someone to answer questions regarding credentialing.
  5. What if I lose my certificate?
    Participants requesting a new certificate will need to contact Kristy Doan at A fee of $25.00 will be charged for all replacement certificates. Certificates will be mailed once the fee has been received.
  6. What is the Innovation Showcase?
    Innovation Showcase (formally Showcasing/Creative Expressions Art Gallery) is an opportunity to briefly highlight how your program or classroom has been innovative in meeting the needs of children, families, or staff, and share your positive outcomes. Applicants choose how to exhibit their work on a virtual platform (i.e. photos, video, slide show, PowerPoint, or other tech tools).  Includes an opportunity to interact with conference participants.
  7. If I have a question or need help, where do I go?
    ISU Conference Services is assisting the SAV planning committee. All registration questions can be sent to Deb Cowdery at  All other questions can be sent to Megan McCann at and she will either answer your question or get in contact with the correct person to assist you.
  8. Where do I find information about working with families?
    A family booth is set up in the virtual exhibit hall. Please be sure to talk with Illinois STAR NET Family Resource Specialists who can provide you current resources to support your work with families.
  9. What are Presenter Sales?
    Presenter sales is an opportunity for presenters to offer attendees additional resources for sale immediately following their session. If you are looking for more information on a workshop session that you attended or if you missed a session and would like to speak with the presenters and check out their products, you can catch them immediately following their session.
  10. What type of networking opportunities and events are planned during the conference?
    More information about networking opportunities will be posted by June 2021.
  11. What is the cancellation policy?
    A full refund less a $20.00 processing fee will be provided for any cancellation requests submitted by 11:59 pm on September 17, 2021. Beginning on September 18th, no refunds will be provided.  All cancellation requests must be submitted via email to Deb at  However, you are welcome to transfer your registration to a colleague.   12. When will I receive a printed schedule of the conference sessions?
    Printed copies of the full conference session schedule will not be provided. Attendees can access the Pathable Virtual Platform two weeks prior to the SAV Conference for a full listing and description of workshop sessions, including presenter bios. For attendees who prefer a printed detailed schedule, a pdf file will be available on the SAV website for download at least one week prior to the conference.
  13. How do I access handouts for my session?
    Presenters have been asked to submit their handouts to SAV electronically. Handouts will be accessible via the Pathable Virtual Platform for those presenters who submitted to SAV at least one week prior to the conference. Presenters who do not submit electronically can post a link to their handouts in the chatbox during their session.
  14. Do you take day-of registrations?
    More information regarding registration will be posted on May 10, 2021.
  15. What funding opportunities exist to attend SAV?
    Illinois STARNET provides Fellowships to families and early childhood professionals to help cover the cost of professional learning and associated expenses. Locate your local STARNET region at starnet.orgto inquire about funding opportunities to attend SAV. Additional scholarship opportunities might be available on a conference-by-conference basis.
